Spring Season Wrap-up
This Spring soccer season featured cooler than normal temperatures (15-20 degrees below normal highs on most of these Saturdays), but finished with a very seasonably warm day. Clouds broke into sunshine as the day drew to an end.
I wish to make special mention of the compliments passed along by a park visitor, who pointed out the vibe of the crowd (all the smiling faces among the parents and the kids) and how clean and well-kept the grounds always are. This is especially to the credit of the soccer community and the culture you’ve grown. You people are so awesome, that even a passerby can’t ignore it! As for the park grounds, the City of Walker invested heavily to build and maintain this beautiful place to play (even re-investing in the case of the field 1 re-build, which easily gobbled up something like 7-inches of rain during that 100-year monsoon we had early on). A special thank-you is owed to Public Works for doing such a stellar job of making this place look like a country club. Our visitors can’t ignore that, either. Thank you, Public Works!
Speaking for myself, I’m very proud of all the families that participate, for all you bring to the show: the players, parents, and families, for coming together at practices and games so the kids can make new memories and new friends; the coaches, for volunteering their time to manage the teams; the officials, for putting forth so much preparation, time and effort to keep the games safe and fair; and the Recreation Department and their staff for putting it all together. Well done, everyone.
Save the Date!
Just a reminder that sign-ups for the Fall, 2026 season begins shortly: From June 15, 2026 through June 29, 2026. Officials applications and re-applications may be submitted at that time as well.
Have a safe Memorial Day holiday and a wonderful Summer season! Hope to see you all back in the Fall.
