Game 2 in the Books

Having some newer officials on staff, I took that opportunity to spend a little time on field with them. This helps build self-confidence and lets me really improve their understanding of the rules.

What really struck me is how well these kids play - they put on an amazing show! For having only one other game played and only two weeks of practices, I was impressed. I had so much fun being out there with the officials to take in these games, that I hated the day to end. Great job, kids! And great job to my officials staff for the job they’re doing, too.

Practice Week and Game 3: May 3, 2025

A rainy practice week is in store, which could also feature severe weather. However, it is forecast to give way to another crisp, sunny Saturday morning – perfect for soccer! I do not anticipate any weather-related problems getting this weekend’s games in.

Wet Weather Threatens Practices

When there is any possibility of servere weather, coaches should follow the Recreation Department’s rules about whether or not to cancel practices. In some specific cases, cancellations are compulsory (click here to learn when the Recreation Department requires you to cancel your practices). Remember, the Recreation Department will normally only take the lead on cancellations for Saturday’s game days, so coaches should follow the severe weather guidelines when taking charge of severe weather cancellation decisions about their practices.
